Easter week
Easter week in Norway is one long week of calmness in town. Due to it being a 5 day weekend, most of the locals also decide to take off M-W as well, thereby having an long week holiday. This is the accepted norm, and it’s an institution in this country. The traditional thing to do is to pack your ski’s and enough KwikLunsj and go to your little hytta (you either own it, or you find one to rent), and spend the week in the great outdoors. A nice idea, and it can be very relaxing, except for the packing and the rush to get out of town.
End result is traffic chaos, articles in the paper, and a general sense of whinging and complaining that could easily be avoided if people decided that they could perhaps leave a day or two later.
The bonus for us ‘unfortunate’ folk stuck in town is that half the inhabitants are gone, giving the rest of us a very calm and peaceful Trondheim.
Easter is a nice time – the shops are all empty on a saturday except for models, which is highly unusual, as saturday is THE shopping day – everything is close sunday.
You do however find some interesting sights around.
The image on the right is the original, and the one on the left is ‘processed’. Same picture, but a totally different mood don’t you think? A little program called Topaz Adjust is a pretty cool little program. Not to everyones taste, but sometimes the results can be fun.
